CIAA was founded in 1974 with the help of the Jamestown  Businessmen's Association, now the  Jamestown Chamber of Commerce.

Nurtured by the large number of artists living in Jamestown and the surrounding communities, the CIAA has flourished and is an important part of the island culture.
